NEET PG 2025
100%
100% domicile quota for MP PG state seats — zero open seats for non-domicile
Madhya Pradesh does not offer any open or non-domicile category for state PG counselling. If you don't have MP domicile, MP state counselling is irrelevant to your planning. Non-domicile access is only through MCC AIQ 15%. — Formity's review of MPPEB 2025 brochure.
10
10 state govt colleges participate in MPPEB PG counselling — all government, no private
MP state PG counselling is exclusively government colleges. Gandhi Medical College Bhopal is the flagship. Private colleges in MP (People's, Index, etc.) operate through management quota and MCC AIQ only.
≠AIIMS
AIIMS Bhopal admits PG through INI-CET, a separate exam — not NEET PG, and not MP state counselling
A common planning error. AIIMS Bhopal is an MCC institution. Despite being located in MP, AIIMS Bhopal PG seats are allocated through MCC's AIQ counselling — separate timeline, separate registration, separate preferences.

How counselling works for you

You are in 2 counselling processes.

  • MCC — All India Quota, DNB and NBE seats, every deemed seat. About half the seats.
  • Your state — its own state-quota seats. About the other half.

Separate registration for each. Separate dates. Separate fee.

In Madhya Pradesh, Directorate of Medical Education, Madhya Pradesh (DME MP) holds your state seats — 4 rounds (Round 1, Round 2, Mop-Up Round, Stray Vacancy Round).

The steps, in order:

  1. Registration — pay the fee, create your account on the portal (MCC or your state’s).
  2. Choice filling — you rank every seat you would actually join, in the order you want it.
  3. Lock — choices close at a fixed deadline; the list is frozen, no more edits or reordering after.
  4. Allotment — the system goes straight down your list and gives you the first seat still open at your rank.
  5. Freeze or Float — accept and stop (Freeze), or stay in line for something higher while your current seat is held (Float).
  6. Report + deposit — verify documents, pay the seat deposit.
  7. Later rounds — Round 2, Round 3 (mop-up), and a stray-vacancy round fill what is left; floating carries you into the next round automatically.
  8. Upgrade / exit — you can move up in a later round, or step away — but only Round 1 lets you leave without losing the deposit.

2026 change on MCC seats: After each allotment you now choose Freeze or Float. Freeze = accept and stop: you report once at the allotted college for document verification and fee, and you’re done. Float = accept but stay in line for a higher choice: under the 2026 reform you do not report physically while floating — your provisional admission stays valid online as you take the next rounds. Upgradation is open up to Round 3; after Round 3 anyone still holding a seat reports physically to finish.

This reform is MCC’s own — it covers AIQ, deemed and central seats only. Madhya Pradesh’s own counselling (held by DME MP) sets its own process; check with them for how upgrades work on your state seats.

MP's 20% ST Reservation
Madhya Pradesh has 20% ST reservation — the highest among major states. This significantly impacts UR seat availability. Combined with OBC (14%) and SC (16%), reserved categories account for 50%+ of seats. UR candidates need to account for this when comparing rank ranges with other states.

Bond Structure
Section 7

Bond Structure

MP has a dual bond system — GMCs vs district hospitals.

Rs 10L
GMC Bond / 1 Year
Major government medical colleges (Gandhi, MGM, GR, NSC Bose, etc.) have a 1-year service bond at Rs 10L. Serve in underserved areas or pay the penalty. Among the more moderate bonds in India.
Rs 20L
District Hospital Bond / 3 Years
District hospital PG seats (Gwalior, Morena, Ratlam, Sehore, Shivpuri) have a 3-year service bond at Rs 20L. Much longer commitment — important to factor in before choosing a district hospital seat.
Dual Bond: GMC vs District
MP's bond system is unusual: major GMCs have Rs 10L/1yr while district hospitals have Rs 20L/3yr. This means a district hospital seat with a higher closing rank also carries a heavier bond. Consider this tradeoff carefully — 3 years of compulsory service is significant, especially for those planning super-speciality training.

Key Insights
Section 9

Key Insights

Strong Government Network
With 30 government institutes, MP has one of the largest state PG networks. Even newer GMCs (Datia, Ratlam, Shivpuri, Khandwa) now offer PG seats. Pre-clinical seats at these newer colleges go to ranks 50,000+.
Para-clinical Strength
MP's top specialities by seat count are Microbiology (14), SPM (13), Physiology (13), Pathology (13). If you're targeting para-clinical PG, MP offers more options than most states.
Training fees
Rs 1.01L fee + Rs 75K stipend in cities like Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior, Jabalpur. Net financial position is positive for PG trainees — rare outside government seats.
Non-Domicile via AIQ
Non-domicile candidates can only access MP through AIQ (15% of govt seats) or DNB. State quota (85%) is domicile-only. AIQ seats at Gandhi/MGM/GR close at 765-1,850 — competitive but accessible.
