NEET PG 2025
MCC
Most PG seats from Andaman go through MCC AIQ — not state counselling
Andaman's state counselling covers only ~30 seats at ANIIMS Port Blair. Most candidates here compete through MCC's AIQ pool. Formity's review of MCC 2025 allotment data.
1
ANIIMS Port Blair is the sole institution in Andaman state PG counselling
There is no private PG infrastructure in Andaman. One college, one counselling body. If ANIIMS doesn't suit you, your next option is MCC AIQ colleges on the mainland.
₹1.25L
Fees at ANIIMS mirror central govt rates — ₹1.25L/yr for all PG seats
Same fee structure as AIIMS-category institutions. Stipend is also at central government rates: ₹55,000-75,000/month depending on seniority. — Formity's analysis of MCC 2025 data.
0
Zero NRI quota seats in Andaman state PG counselling
Andaman does not offer NRI quota at state level. NRI candidates must go through MCC AIQ only. No management quota either — all seats are government-regulated.

How counselling works for you

You are in 2 counselling processes.

  • MCC — All India Quota, DNB and NBE seats, every deemed seat. About half the seats.
  • Your state — its own state-quota seats. About the other half.

Separate registration for each. Separate dates. Separate fee.

The steps, in order:

  1. Registration — pay the fee, create your account on the portal (MCC or your state’s).
  2. Choice filling — you rank every seat you would actually join, in the order you want it.
  3. Lock — choices close at a fixed deadline; the list is frozen, no more edits or reordering after.
  4. Allotment — the system goes straight down your list and gives you the first seat still open at your rank.
  5. Freeze or Float — accept and stop (Freeze), or stay in line for something higher while your current seat is held (Float).
  6. Report + deposit — verify documents, pay the seat deposit.
  7. Later rounds — Round 2, Round 3 (mop-up), and a stray-vacancy round fill what is left; floating carries you into the next round automatically.
  8. Upgrade / exit — you can move up in a later round, or step away — but only Round 1 lets you leave without losing the deposit.

2026 change on MCC seats: After each allotment you now choose Freeze or Float. Freeze = accept and stop: you report once at the allotted college for document verification and fee, and you’re done. Float = accept but stay in line for a higher choice: under the 2026 reform you do not report physically while floating — your provisional admission stays valid online as you take the next rounds. Upgradation is open up to Round 3; after Round 3 anyone still holding a seat reports physically to finish.

Domicile Rules — State Quota
Section 2

Six state quota seats are filled through ANIIMS's own counselling. Combined merit among A&N resident candidates, across 4 domicile categories.

A&N Domicile Categories
  • I
Scheduled Tribes — Tribal communities of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
  • IIIA
Pre-1942 Settlers — Candidates whose families settled in A&N before 1942.
  • IIIB
Rehabilitation Settlers — Families settled under government rehabilitation schemes introduced after reoccupation of the Islands.
  • IV
Other Locals — Any person who has completed a minimum of 10 years of education in A&N Islands.
Key document: Nativity Certificate OR Domicile Certificate from A&N Administration
⚠ State quota rank range not published — ANIIMS conducts its own counselling without public allotment data

If you are a Category IV candidate (10-year education), ensure your school records clearly show A&N Islands addresses for the full 10-year period. Certificate must be issued by A&N Administration, not any mainland authority.

AIQ Rank Range (MCC 2025)
Section 3

Only 1–2 AIQ seats per speciality. Ranks are from MCC R3 allotment. With such small numbers, a single allotment can shift the pattern significantly year to year.

Speciality AIQ Seats R3 Closing — GEN R3 Closing — OBC Note
ANAESTHESIOLOGY 2 28938
ANATOMY 1 145650 GEN unfilled at R3
BIOCHEMISTRY 1 116868
GENERAL SURGERY 1 14908 GEN unfilled at R3
MICROBIOLOGY 2 98712

Anatomy and General Surgery had no GEN allotment at R3 — OBC candidates filled those seats. Biochemistry and Microbiology went to R3/R4 (GEN closing ~98K–1.17L), indicating low demand. Anaesthesiology is the most competitive AIQ speciality here (GEN ≈ 28,938).

DNB In-Service Bond
Bond Applies to AIQ Candidates Too
Unlike some states where the service bond only covers state-quota candidates, ANIIMS bond applies to all MD/MS admits — both AIQ (MCC) and State Quota. If you take an AIQ seat at ANIIMS, you are bound to:

1. Serve A&N Administration for 1 year after obtaining your degree (notify within 30 days of passing, join within 6 months of notice).
2. Not leave India for 5 years from degree date.

Breach of either condition: ₹10,00,000 penalty. Original certificates retained by ANIIMS until bond obligations are fulfilled.
Bond on ₹100 stamp paper + 2 sureties (Govt Class I/II or ITR filers)

Source: ANIIMS PG Prospectus 2025-26, Section VI and Appendix A/B. Bond penalty of ₹10L is significantly lower than mainland states (which range ₹20L–₹50L).

Section 6

Key Insights

Only Institution — Real Scarcity
ANIIMS is the only medical institution in the entire UT of Andaman & Nicobar Islands. There is no competition from other local colleges. Every PG seat here is uniquely tied to island service.
MS Ophthalmology — State Only
The single MS Ophthalmology seat is exclusively state quota — no AIQ. An A&N resident needing Ophthalmology PG must compete via ANIIMS's own counselling. No all-India route exists for this seat.
Low Bond, Island Life
The bond is stated on each college row above, where we have read it. However, the 5-year no-leave-India clause is unique — plan accordingly if you have international career plans post-PG.
Pre-clinical Seats Available at Weak Ranks
Anatomy (OBC closing ~1.45L) and Biochemistry (GEN closing ~1.17L) fill at very high rank numbers — making ANIIMS viable for candidates who want to enter PG teaching/research at lower competitive ranks via AIQ.
