Round 1 is a no-penalty exit — not joining keeps your deposit. From Round 2, not reporting to an allotted seat forfeits your ₹2 lakh security deposit. Across counselling last year, 6,686 students were allotted a Round-1 seat and did not report — and 6 in 10 of them did not appear in MCC counselling again. MCC's records are national only, so a state-quota seat does not show up in them. So name it now, in the calm: a seat you'd hold, or one you'd release.
