Punjab conducts its own NEET UG MBBS admissions through the Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot (BFUHS). This is entirely separate from MCC's All India Quota (AIQ) process. AIQ handles approximately 15% of government seats and all deemed university seats across India, with no domicile requirement. Punjab's own counselling handles the remaining ~85% of government seats within the state, plus all private MBBS colleges. It runs across 5 rounds: Round 1, Round 2, Mop-Up Round, Stray Vacancy Round, Special Stray Round.
The key difference most candidates miss: your AIR (All India Rank) determines your AIQ position. Punjab's counselling runs on a separate state rank — in most states this is more accessible than AIQ for domicile candidates. For example, Guru Govind Singh Medical College, Faridkot closes at approximately 14,394 via AIQ, but 47,571 via Punjab state counselling.
Bond: Punjab requires a rural service bond of ₹20L · 2 yrs (2 years (state quota), 1 year (AIQ)) for government MBBS seats. The penalty for breaking the bond is Rs 20,00,000. Significantly hiked for 2025-26. Property surety requirement stayed by Punjab & Haryana HC.
Ask anything about Punjab counselling — domicile eligibility, fees, bonds, which round to file for both routes.
