DHS (Directorate of Health Services) Manipur conducts state PG counselling. RIMS Imphal is central government.

JNIMS (Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences) is the main state government PG centre. Limited specialities but growing.
Eligibility: Manipur domicile. NEET PG qualified. High ST reservation reflects tribal demographics.
AIQ
RIMS Imphal (Central)
RIMS Imphal is a central government institute, but 85% of seats go to state quota (Manipur domicile). Only 15% AIQ via MCC. The premier PG centre in the Northeast after GMCH Guwahati.
Eligibility: AIQ (15%) = any NEET PG qualified. State quota (85%) = Manipur domicile required.
RIMS Imphal — Central Institute, Not State
RIMS Imphal (Regional Institute of Medical Sciences) is a central government institute, but uniquely, 85% of its seats go to state quota (Manipur domicile). Only 15% are AIQ under MCC. This is unusual for a central institute. RIMS has among the best clinical exposure in the Northeast. JNIMS is the state government institute with limited PG capacity but growing.

Key Insights

Northeast Exposure
RIMS Imphal offers unique clinical exposure to tropical and infectious diseases common in the Northeast. Malaria, TB, snakebite, and trauma cases are higher than plains states. Excellent for surgical training.
High ST Demographics
Manipur's tribal population (hill districts: Senapati, Tamenglong, Chandel, Churachandpur) means high ST reservation in state quota. Valley Meitei population competes in general category.
Very Limited Seats
With only 4 institutes and 33 government seats, Manipur PG is one of India's smallest PG ecosystems. Competition for state quota clinical branches is extremely intense.
Security & Connectivity
Imphal is well-connected by air. Newer highway projects are improving road connectivity. Security situation has improved significantly. RIMS and JNIMS are in Imphal city with good infrastructure.
