Counselling Structure

GMCH-32 (Government Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32) is the only UT government PG college. PGIMER is separate.

UT Quota (GMCH-32)
Post-SC ruling: no domicile requirement for Chandigarh PG. UT quota seats at GMCH-32 are filled on purely merit basis.
Eligibility: Any NEET PG qualified candidate. No domicile restriction post-SC ruling. Purely merit-based allocation.
AIQ
All India Quota
Majority of GMCH-32 PG seats come under MCC counselling as AIQ. PGIMER has its own AIQ via MCC (INI category).
Eligibility: Any NEET PG qualified. No domicile restriction. PGIMER is highly competitive.
No Domicile Requirement — SC Ruling
Following a Supreme Court ruling, Chandigarh PG counselling has no domicile requirement. Both UT quota and AIQ seats at GMCH-32 are filled on purely merit basis using NEET PG scores. This makes Chandigarh unique — any candidate from any state can compete for all GMCH-32 PG seats. The previously restrictive "exclusive domicile affidavit" no longer applies to PG.

PGIMER (Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research) is an INI (Institute of National Importance). Its counselling is via MCC under INI category — not the same as GMCH-32 UT counselling. Extremely competitive for DM/MCh and MD/MS.
