Agartala Government Medical College is Tripura's sole government MBBS institution — 100 seats for a 4 million population state
AGMC Agartala has approximately 100 MBBS seats. 85% state quota = ~85 seats for Tripura candidates. The concentration is extreme — one college, one city, for the whole state.
ST
ST reservation is significant in Tripura — indigenous communities (Tripuri, Reang, etc.) have constitutional protections
Tripura's tribal population constitutes ~30% of the state. ST reservation in state quota reflects this. Non-tribal candidates face limited available open-category seats at AGMC. Planning for other states is often more productive.

AGMC Agartala = Flagship
Agartala Government Medical College is the only govt college. 118 MBBS seats, very affordable at govt tuition fee. NMC approved 150 seats from NMC (session 2024–25 onwards).
Two Private Colleges
Tripura Medical College & Dr. BRAM Teaching Hospital (80 seats) and Tripura Santiniketan Medical College (75 seats). Private fees at prescribed rates of Tripura Santiniketan MC.
Non-Domicile Access
20 seats at TMC and 75 seats at TSMC reserved for All India other than Tripura domicile. This is the non-domicile route via state counselling itself.
TRMCC (Tripura Medical Counselling Committee) conducts counselling
Counselling via trmcc.admissions.nic.in. Handles govt + private seats for Tripura domicile and All India non-domicile seats at private colleges. MCC handles AIQ (15% of govt seats). 4 rounds: R1, R2, R3 + Stray Vacancy.

State Domicile (Clause 1)
Indian citizen + permanent resident of Tripura. Applicant or parents must have resided in Tripura continuously for not less than 10 years prior to NEET application. Must NOT have applied for domicile of any other state per NEET brochure.
Clause 2: AISO / Govt Employees
Children of All India Services Officers borne in Tripura Cadre and children of State Government employees posted outside Tripura are eligible regardless of prior stay in Tripura.
Clause 3: Deputation / Central Govt
Not a permanent resident but parent is on deputation to Govt of Tripura or is an officer/employee of Central Govt working in Tripura, and has served continuously for 3+ years prior to qualifying exam.
Clause 4: Ex-Servicemen Wards
Candidate or parents must have been staying in Tripura for not less than 5 years. Must have passed H.S.(+2) from any school/institute in India affiliated to a Board recognized by Govt of India/Govt of Tripura.
Clause 5: Defence Personnel
Children of serving Army/Navy/Air Force personnel hailing from Tripura. Children must have stayed in Tripura for 5+ years. Must have passed H.S.(+2) from any institution of Tripura.
Academic Minimum
Must have passed in Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English individually with 50% aggregate in PCB (40% for SC/ST/OBC-NCL, 40% for PwD). Must have NEET UG rank.
Non-Domicile Access via State Counselling
95 seats for All India other than Tripura domicile: 20 at TMC and 75 at TSMC. Eligible for UR/EWS/OBC(NCL)/SC categories. Apply through TRMCC same portal. Clause-1 applicants must NOT apply for non-domicile seats. Also, MCC AIQ (15% of AGMC govt seats) is open to all India.

Non-domicile SC/ST/OBC get reserved seats in Tripura
Unlike most states where non-domicile = general merit only, Tripura reserves category seats for non-domicile candidates:
- TMC (20 non-domicile seats): SC 3 + OBC 5 + ST 1 + UR 11
- TSMC (75 non-domicile seats): SC 11 + OBC 20 + ST 6 + UR 38
Total 95 non-domicile seats with category reservation — 36 reserved + 49 UR + 10 more at TSMC. An SC candidate from Bihar or UP can use their SC category in Tripura state counselling. This is rare in India.

Auto Upgradation in R2
R2 provides auto upgradation. If upgraded, candidate must relieve from R1 college and join R2 allotted college. Earlier R1 seat automatically cancelled and allotted to another candidate.
R2 Allotted = Cannot Resign
If allotted in R2 but not reported, security deposit forfeited. Can still participate in R3 with fresh security deposit. But if R2 joined, cannot resign.
No Seat Transfer
A candidate who surrenders an allotted seat in any round cannot claim that seat as his/her own. Surrendered seats go back to the pool.
Provisional Admission
All admissions provisional till final NMC approval. Document verification at college is mandatory. False information = cancellation + prosecution under law.
Clause-1 Undertaking
All candidates availing State Quota seats must submit an undertaking that they are applying for Tripura domicile only and have not applied for any other State Quota.
PwD Certificate = NMC Centers Only
Disability certificate must be in ONLINE format from designated NMC centers only. No certificate from any other authority/hospital will be entertained.
