Time Management Strategy (3 hours 20 minutes)
Recommended Approach
| Phase | Time | Action |
|---|---|---|
| Phase 1 | 0-90 min | Attempt your strongest subject first. Complete all confident answers. |
| Phase 2 | 90-150 min | Move to second subject. Attempt all questions you know. |
| Phase 3 | 150-180 min | Third subject — focus on definite answers only. |
| Phase 4 | 180-200 min | Return to marked/skipped questions. Review OMR sheet. |
Per-Question Strategy
- Know it? Answer immediately (45-60 seconds)
- Almost know it? Mark it and come back (circle the question number)
- Don't know it? Skip completely. Don't guess unless you can eliminate 2+ options
- The -1 rule: Only guess when you can narrow down to 2 options (expected value becomes positive)
Subject Order Strategy
Start with your strongest subject to build confidence:
- If Biology is strongest: Start with Botany/Zoology → Chemistry → Physics
- If Chemistry is strongest: Start with Chemistry → Biology → Physics
- Most toppers recommend: Biology → Chemistry → Physics
Common Mistakes That Cost Marks
- Wrong OMR bubbling: Filling answer in wrong question's row (costs 8 marks per error)
- Not reading all options: Sometimes option D is more correct than B
- Spending too long on one question: If stuck for 2+ minutes, skip and return
- Negative marking losses: Random guessing costs ~1 mark per guess on average
- Not checking Section B: Each subject has a Section B where you choose 10 out of 15 questions
The Night Before and Morning Of
- Sleep by 10 PM — no last-minute studying
- Set 2-3 alarms
- Eat a light, familiar breakfast (no experiments)
- Reach centre 60-90 minutes before reporting time
- Carry your admit card and ID — double-check before leaving
- Stay calm. You've prepared. Trust your preparation.
